When it comes to road safety, Wisconsin falls around the middle for the whole country. People in the Badger State are courteous and responsible drivers, but the clogged highways near Milwaukee and the open roads in the Mississippi River Valley have their share of car accidents with injuries or even deaths.

Springtime is a good time for defensive driving, as more people are on clear roads and enjoying higher temperatures. Hundreds of motorcycles are in the mix, and it is more likely that irresponsible drivers are operating cars and trucks while intoxicated. Drunk driving is never a good idea and can have fatal consequences.

A 39-year-old Green Bay man is in court over an alleged drunk driving incident in Oneida, and the incident appears to be his fourth arrest related to drunk driving. The man was found by sheriff’s deputies at the scene of a crash where a woman and two girls had been injured. The two girls had been in the suspect’s pickup truck.

Law enforcement noticed the man had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol. He then admitted he had been drinking malt liquor before driving. He is facing charges of causing injury with a vehicle while drunk and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle.

Victims of car accidents involving drunk drivers or other irresponsible behavior may have a case for financial damages that can help with recovery. Costs may include medical expenses and replacing vehicles, and victims and their families should not have to shoulder these burdens without the proper financial help.
